Grande vittoria per la raccolta fondi del cortometraggio The Cunning con Gemma Arterton e Bethany Asher<\/h3>\n\n

Lo scorso 29 Novembre avevo parlato<\/a> della partenza della raccolta fondi per il cortometraggio “The Cunning”<\/strong> con protagonista Gemma Arterton<\/strong> e Bethany Asher<\/strong> incentrato su “un\u2019 adolescente con la sindrome di Down che combatte le accuse mortali di stregoneria nella Gran Bretagna del XVIII secolo”. Volete sapere com’\u00e8 andata?<\/p>\n\n

Bene, abbiamo raccolto ben 9328,77 euro (8478 sterline) in fronte a un’obbiettivo di 6601,33 euro (6000 sterline). Una grande vittoria considerato anche il periodo storico che stiamo vivendo!<\/p>\n\n

Considerate pure che il traguardo \u00e8 stato raggiunto qualche giorno prima della fine della raccolta fondi e le persone hanno voluto continuare a donare. Nel frattempo la produzione si \u00e8 aggiornata su come muoversi e hanno fatto un primo sopralluogo sul set di questo cortometraggio che si prospetta emozionante, coinvolgente e necessario.<\/p>\n

Perch\u00e9 \u00e8 necessario The Cunning<\/em>?<\/h4>\n\n

Perch\u00e9 siamo alle porte del 2021 e ancora le minoranze non hanno la voce che meritano. Le persone con la sindrome di Down sono sempre nel comprimariato, spesso sulla sfondo. Abbiamo bisogno di nuove storie, nuovi protagonisti, nuovi visi e di conoscere racconti inediti.<\/p>\n\n

Nel periodo della caccia dalle streghe hanno fatto da protagonisti il pregiudizio e l’ignoranza, due piaghe che sono presenti anche ai giorni d’oggi. Come abbiamo visto in racconti come “La seduzione del male”<\/strong>, bastava un’accusa dovuta a un’antipatia che la persona veniva messa al rogo. Figuriamoci come potevano essere viste e additate le persone con la sindrome di Down. Che cosa tremenda! Quindi \u00e8 giunto il momento di conoscere questa storia che, prima di parlare di diritti della donna e delle persone con disabilit\u00e0, si alza in pieni per i diritti umani. Siamo tutti umani, siamo tutti uguali. Nessuno deve rimanere in seconda fila!<\/p>\n\n

Cosa ancora pi\u00f9 grave \u00e8 che la storia di “The Cunning”<\/strong> \u00e8 basata su fatti realmente accaduti: Nel 1727 Janet Horne mostrava segni di demenza e sua figlia aveva una deformit\u00e0 alle mani e ai piedi. I loro vicini hanno accusato Horne di usare sua figlia come un pony per andare all\u2019Inferno, dove l\u2019aveva fatta calzare dal Diavolo. Le due donne sono state condannate a essere bruciate sul rogo.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Se troveremo la talentuosissima Bethany Asher<\/strong> nei panni della protagonista Dolly e Gemma Arterton<\/strong> in quelli di sua madre, nelle scorse settimane si sono aggiunti al cast Mercy Ojelade<\/strong> (apparsa nella serie tv Outlander<\/em> e nel film Senza apparente motivo<\/em>) e Ross Armstrong<\/strong> (apparso nelle serie Pennyworth<\/em>, Lettera al re<\/em> su Netflix e Chernobyl<\/em>). La colonna sonora sar\u00e0 firmata da Erland Cooper<\/strong>, eccellente compositore e la regia sar\u00e0 di Alexandra Maher<\/strong>, che ha anche scritto la sceneggiatura.<\/p>\n\n

“The Cunning”<\/strong> verr\u00e0 girato nei prossimi mesi e noi siamo curiosissimi di sapere e vedere pi\u00f9 cose possibili.<\/p>\n\n

Great win for the fundraiser for the short film The Cunning with Gemma Arterton and Bethany Asher<\/h3>\n\n

Last November 29th I talked about<\/a> the start of the fundraiser for the short film “The Cunning”<\/strong> starring Gemma Arterton<\/strong> and Bethany Asher<\/strong> which focuses on “a teenager with Down syndrome fighting the deadly accusations of witchcraft in Great Britain of the XVIII century “. Do you want to know how did it go?<\/p>\n\n

Well, we raised a whopping 8478 pounds<\/strong> against a goal of 6000 pounds. A great victory also considering the historical period we are living!<\/p>\n\n

Also consider that the milestone was reached a few days before the end of the fundraiser and people wanted to keep donating. In the meantime, the production has been updated on how to move and have made a first inspection on the set of this short film which promises to be exciting, moving and necessary.<\/p>\n

Why is The Cunning necessary?<\/h4>\n\n

Because we are at the gates of 2021 and still minorities haven’t the voice they deserve. People with Down syndrome are always in the supporting role, often in the background. We need new stories, new protagonists, new faces and to know new stories.<\/p>\n\n

In the period of the witch hunt, prejudice and ignorance were the protagonists, two plagues that are present even today. As we have seen in stories such as “The Crucible”, an accusation due to an antipathy was enough that the person was put at the stake. So, we can figure how people with Down syndrome could be seen and pointed to. What a terrible thing! So the time has come to know this story which, before talking about the rights of women and people with disabilities, stands up for human rights. We are all human, we are all the same. Nobody has to stay in the second row!<\/p>\n\n

What is even more serious is that the story of “The Cunning”<\/strong> is based on real events: In 1727 Janet Horne was showing signs of dementia and her daughter had a condition affecting her hands and feet. Their neighbours accused Horne of using her daughter as a pony to ride to Hell, where she had her shod by the Devil. The two women were sentenced to be burned at the stake.<\/p>\n

If we find the very talented Bethany Asher<\/strong> in the role of the protagonist Dolly and Gemma Arterton<\/strong> in those of her mother, in recent weeks Mercy Ojelade<\/strong> (the TV series Outlander<\/em> and the film Incendiary<\/em>) and Ross Armstrong<\/strong> ( the series Pennyworth<\/em>, The Letter for the King<\/em> on Netflix and Chernobyl<\/em>).
